Danny "Chocolate" Myers

Danny "Chocolate" Myers

Danny "Chocolate" Myers (a.k.a. “Gasman Choc”) remains one of the most popular crew members in the world of stock car racing. For 20 years, Chocolate fueled #3 GM Goodwrench Chevy for the legendary Intimidator himself, Dale Earnhardt. During their years together, they visited Victory Lane no less than 83 times together. After Earnhardt’s death, Chocolate remained with the #3 (then #29) team when Kevin Harvick took over the wheel. He and Earnhardt's team then moved to Robby Gordon's No. 31 Chevrolet in 2002. He retired from jumping pit walls a year later.

Over the years, Chocolate has been a color commentator for ESPN2, has appeared in countless television commercials, and acted in movies. One of his greatest fight scenes was in the “Smokey and the Bandit" series.

A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Chocolate is the eldest son of the late Bobby Myers, a pioneer of NASCAR, killed while driving in the Southern 500 at Darlington in 1957 for car owner Lee Petty, Richard Petty's father. Each year, NASCAR bestows the prestigious Myers Brothers Award to the person, corporation, or entity that has had the greatest positive impact on the sport of stock car racing that year. The award was named for Bobby and Billy Myers, Chocolate's father and uncle, who were early pioneers and champions in the sport of NASCAR racing.

Chocolate is still part of the Richard Childress Racing operations. He works as a part of the company’s management team. The RCR Museum operates under his direction.

And, each week day from 11 to 3, you can listen to Chocolate Myers on his show, “Tradin’ Paint” on Sirius Satellite Radio 128.

Chocolate and his wife, Caron, a former television reporter who is now the CEO of Carolina Cancer Services, live on High Rock Lake near Lexington, NC. The couple has a daughter, Alexi Nichole, and two dogs – Poochie and Diesel.
